macOS Big Sur: Use Newly Launched Features in Safari, Messages, Maps, and More

 Apple recently launched a new operating system, macOS Big Sur. It is also called macOS 11, and it is available for download. This new OS has brought plenty of new features from all different apps, including Maps, Safari, and Messages. Big Sur is a big update because it is the first OS to work with the new M1 silicon chip. And it will also work with the old Intel-based system. So if anyone purchases the latest MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, or MacBook Air, they’ll get macOS Big Sur installed in it.

In the latest OS, the apps will open and run more smoothly. Along with the new OS and its features, Apple increased the security of their devices. If anyone is willing to experience sometime new, they should upgrade to Big Sur.


Safari 

The biggest upgrade of Big Sur comes in the Safari browser. Apple also has said that it is the biggest Safari update since the launch. The renovated load website feature will open the websites faster than before. Now users will be able to manage the tabs easily. The privacy features are also improved that include a report button. It will allow the users to see those websites that monitor and track user’s data.

There’s a new category in the App Store for Safari extensions. It will allow the users to customize the extension for the sites. Users will be able to use their preferred extensions and will be able to remove them when they want. So if anyone doesn’t want an extension to run all the time, they will be able to customize it. The start page on Safari will allow users to set new wallpaper from a specific section or their photos.

To use these features, users will have to open the Safari browser first. If multiple tabs are opened, users will see website favicons that will allow the user to open their preferred tab quickly and tap to delete all of them at once. Click the Privacy button and check the sites that are collecting data.

Maps

Big Sur has brought a new Map app with more features to explore the places on the map. It will allow the users to share if they find something interesting. The indoor details of airports and shopping centers will be visible in 360-degree.

Users can explore new areas through Guides, or if they find something interesting, they can create their own. Making vacation spots, parks, and restaurants in Guide are shareable with family and friends. The 360-degree view is called Look Around. Users will be able to see the indoor details of shopping centers and airports. People who use electric scooters or cars will use EV routing to see the weather, charging stations, vehicle’s charge level, and elevation.

Messages

The Messages app has a pin conversation feature. It will allow users to pin up important group conversations. Along with the pin conversation, a rearranged search tab, a new way of designing memojis, and a new way of using message effects has arrived. Users can also notify a person directly by typing their name in group conversion. Whoever gets the mention in the chat will get an alert message.

Widgets

Just like iPadOS 14 and iOS 14 widgets, macOS Big Sur also brought widgets on its home screen. Widgets display the app features in large and dynamic icons, including daily steps and weather.

Instead of opening fitness tracking, weather, or calendar apps, users can rely on widgets to summarize the core information. Several different widgets are available for the users to check their daily schedule, events, fitness, and many more things.

iPad and iPhone Apps

If any user buys the newly launched Macs models with Apple silicon chips, they will be able to easily run iPad and iPhone apps. To make this happen, users will simply need to open the Mac Apple Store and install the apps. If the user has brought any app on their iPhone, they won’t require purchasing it again to install it on a Mac.
