Play in Windowed Mode

You can play the game in Windowed mode by following these steps available below:

  1. Launch Steam on your device.
  2. Thereafter, invoke the game, and then choose the Options tab.
  3. You should mark the box of ‘Windowed’ beneath the Mode section.
  4. Now, reopen the game, then check if it crashes or not.

Edit the Configuration File

You can edit the configuration file by following the steps given below:

  1. First, launch Steam and select Fallout 3.
  2. After that, right-click on it.
  3. Then click on the Properties option.
  4. Once you reach the ‘LOCAL FILES’ option, select the ‘BROWSE LOCAL FILES’ option.
  5. Click on ‘Fallout_default’ and browse for “Busethread” in the Notepad.
  6. Later, modify the bUseThreadedAI=0 to bUseThreadedAI=1.
  7. You have to add ‘iNumHWThreads=2’ below it.
  8. Click on Apply.
  9. Now, reopen the game then check if the issue has been resolved or not.

Modify Compatibility and Launch Fallout 3 as Administrator

You can modify compatibility and launch Fallout 3 as administrator by following these steps listed below:

  1. Launch Steam and select Fallout 3.
  2. Now, right-click on it.
  3. Then pick the Properties option from the context menu.
  4. Once you reach the tab of LOCAL FILES, choose the BROWSE LOCAL FILES option.
  5. Go to Fallout 3 and right-click on it, then pick the Properties option.
  6. Once you reach the tab of Compatibility, mark the ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ box.
  7. Click on the pull-down menu, choose the ‘Windows XP (Service Pack 3)’ option.
  8. Navigate to the ‘Run this program as an administrator’ and select this option.
  9. Click on Apply.
  10. Click on OK.
  11. Now, launch Fallout 3 and check if the issue has been resolved or not.

Download the Driver Manually

You should download the latest graphics drivers from the official site of the manufacturer. Just browse for your model, locate the compatible driver that matches your OS version, and then download it manually.

Reinstalling the Fallout 3

In case none of the solutions mentioned above work, then it’s time to uninstall Fallout 3 and install it again. First, perform a clean uninstall, and then download the game installer again.
